I found writing in the third person and in formal language easier than in our overview. Despite, I struggled with this task in finding what to say that wouldn't evolve in to a main point I also don't think my structure is as planned out as I would like it to be. As I can't find many ways in creating a practical response, I'm worried that my project will be too fact based and worded if I write an essay.
I wanted to use some supporting facts without major points in the opening, and introduce motion capture through it's history, starting at the beginning. I think showing the then vs now of motion capture outside of film and animation right at the start can help evolve the question of mocap in film and animation for the remainder of the essay.
Introductions and Essays
- Third Person, not personal
Try to still make this engaging through the use of images and possibly personal narration. Just because it's formal and not addressing anyone directly, doesn't mean it shouldn't have personal flare and quality.
- Understand the evolution of your question title, how it started and ended. What you originally wanted to look at and how the focus changed.
Started off as VFX, marvel, history: Start off with history. If marvel is still a big point of interest, integrate it. The new Avengers ps4 game is motion capture, and the hulk as evolved in every movie he has ever been mocapped in.
- What have you found out? You don't need to include everything!! Be concise.
You don't need too much history involved, remember this is practical too. Try to use things you've learnt, eg. Polar express originally tried using paint filters over the actors skins, and it turned out horribly, like a facial disease. Don't just write it. Show it yourself to separate text.
- What are the core texts?
Animation magazine, ILM documentaries, Understanding motion capture book.
- Best quotes to use
Try to embed quotes but don't change how they're written.
- Case studies: Images, phenomena, examples, linking back to animation industry.
Make sure to constantly argue personal feelings and reactions to this.
- Leading to an outcome: make the essay a journey that also follows the progression of your outcome.
